4.1 Original Introduction, December 2024

‘Stochastic Drift’ in the context of physical systems refers to gradual and cumulative changes in a system over time due to probabilistic influences and noise. In the same way, perhaps looking back upon this repository myself or others will be able to see the ways in which my mind drifts, and even rise above the peridically shifting trajectories and observe longitudinal trends.

I was inspired to make Stochastic Drift by a blog by one of my good friends, Jiereui Chang. Yes, the form—and title especially—are quite derivative. But I hope here I am able to create something unique of my own. Or at least something that justifies the silly amount of time I put into making this overly complicated LaTeX-themed Liquid template.

4.2 Changes To Be Made, June 2025

Stochastic Drift was first a personal blog for reflection and creative writing. Firstly I am not sure my creative experiments need to be published publicly, and I am even less sure my personal thoughts and experiences do. I kept the creative writing; the personal thoughts have been for now removed. We will see what it becomes in the future.

Is this tampering with the dataset? Skewing the results? Fudging the numbers? Even… de-stochastifying the drift?

Yeah, probably.
